Incredible news: Two more bears have been freed!

Yarrow ventures into the main enclosure for the first timeLast month, we celebrated the rescue of Zilla, Rene and Sihu who were freed from a life of bear baiting and now, we have more incredible news to share!

Two more bears, Robin, meaning "love," and Yarrow, meaning "healing," are safe from the bating ring after being surrendered by their owners.

After being handed over to our local partners, the Bioresource Research Centre (BRC), Robin and Yarrow had their nose ring and ropes removed, and their wounds carefully cleaned.

Thanks to WSPA supporters, these bears have joined the 16 other residents of the WSPA-funded Balkasar Sanctuary where they will have nutritious food, veterinary care and lush grass enclosures to explore.

Help farm animals and get Farmified

Sign our pledge and Farmify your face!Since we launched our report, What's On Your Plate? The Hidden Costs of Industrial Animal Agriculture in Canada, in April we have been busy spreading the word about the importance of humane farming. Thanks to your letter writing efforts, we have been able to meet with more than 50 policymakers to discuss ways to improve the lives of animals in Canada.

We need your help again. Take our pledge to make more humane choices when you shop and eat — then because of your commitment to help animals, you can Farmify your face and join WSPA's global barnyard.

You can make the world a better place for animals every day and help WSPA continue to show food businesses and policymakers that Canadians care about where their food comes from.

Caring about the lives of farm animals is a choice we all can make. Take the pledge now!

One year later — Collars Not Cruelty

One year later Collars Not CrueltyOne year on in our global campaign and we are proving that compassion works — protecting dogs, safeguarding communities and stopping rabies. With your support, we have been able to save dogs from unnecessary and brutal deaths due to people's fear of rabies.

Since the launch of the Collars Not Cruelty campaign last year, we have been working with partners in Bangladesh to vaccinate 20,000 dogs, giving them a bright red collar so the community knows these dogs are safe; preventing them from being killed and protecting everyone from rabies.

To mark the one-year anniversary of this campaign, we are proud to announce a partnership with the Bangladesh government on a national action plan to stamp out rabies across that country and end the unnecessary killing of dogs because of rabies for good. We are also rolling out vaccination programs in the Philippines and Indonesia in partnership with the Global Alliance for Rabies Control.
